- Have you ever heard about cause and effect?
- Do you know anything about response to stimuli?
- Have you heard/read about enzymes and what they do?
- What do you imagine ignition to be?
Think about the application of force and motion. Surely, nothing happens without a cause.
Psalm 91:1
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High…” – this is an activation of a process or action. Can you imagine putting a straw inside a drink and blowing it up to cause uproar in the drink? This is exactly where we are going to!
From Chemistry we know that a catalyst is some material that speeds up chemical reactions. It is also agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action or a person or thing that precipitates an event. Have you heard that prayer is a catalyst that causes a very strong spiritual reaction? Prayer is a spiritual stimulus that ignites responses in the spirit realm. God responds, angels react, demons react, Satan is touched when a fervent youth prays (James 5:16b). Let’s paraphrase this verse this way: “The effectual fervent prayer of a sinfree student is a CATALYST that causes a lot of spiritual reactions; making God to act and Satan to run”.
Consider this: The sky was dry, calm and quiet when Elijah picked up the tool of prayer, caused uproar in the clouds and rain came pouring down. (1Kgs.18:42-45).
