THE TOUCH OF THE LORD
Bible Text: Gen. 32:24-29 | Very often a time in our earthly pilgrimage, the believer needs the touch and or intervention of the Lord because of the ceaseless challenges that confront the wayfaring (Job 14:1). All those that had this touch of God rejoiced because their circumstances changed for good. In the same way God will touch as many as desire His touch this night in Jesus name.
We shall consider (A) Examples Of People Touched By God (B) Our Application
EXAMPLES OF THOSE TOUCHED BY GOD (Gen. 32:6-11; Psa. 69:1-4; 56:1-2; Isa. 1:5-6; Job 1:14-19; Jon. 12:27; Gen. 32:24-29; Rev. 1:17-18; Job 12:27-28; Lk. 22:41-44; 1 Kgs. 19:4-8; Jonah 1:4-6; Matt. 8:1-3,15; Matt. 9:20-22,23-25,29-30).).
The man Jacob had many troubles in his time. Esau, his brother had threatened to kill him because of what he (Jacob) did to him. Jacob was afraid of meeting him this time. This made him leave every member of his family and all he had and went unto the Lord in prayer all through the night. That night God visited him. God visited him with a powerful touch that changed his life and brought blessings upon him.
There were others like David, Job, Elijah, Jonah and the Lord Jesus Christ who encountered serious problems that made them to seek God’s intervention. The good Lord visited them and strengthened them by His touch.
2. OUR APPLICATION (Gen. 37:23-29; Psa. 50:15; 34:6; 137:1-4).
Every time God blesses us, we rejoice because praise and prayer becomes easy. We readily receive answers to our prayers, and this makes the work of God sweet. Because of challenges, like oppressions from enemies etc, many have lost these blessings.
To have the touch of God like the people of old did, we must do like them. We have to set aside whatever we are passing through and seek the Lord’s touch (intervention) through prayers and vigils. As the blessings of God manifest, one will never be the same again.
For sinners and backsliders, the Lord wants them to return to Him. They should reject and confess their sin and reject the devil with all his works. Accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour. The Lord will touch them with His finger of power, and they will never be the same again.
Now what aileth thee? The children of God must rise up and ask the Lord to touch them this night. HSCF: 109, 110
